Better Eating Habits For Healthy Body

I have seen many people who can eat as much as they want, whenever they want and never put on an extra ounce of weight. These people seem to have an abundance of energy, rarely get sick and are full of confidence. On the other hand, there are people who go on diets, starve themselves and still manage to gain weight. These people have little energy, often get sick and have problems with their self-esteem. What is it that makes these two groups of people different?

Many psychologists think that people’s eating behavior is based on their upbringing and what they are taught by parents and family. Most of us remember being told as children to finish off a piece on our plate because it was rude to waste food. It is this indoctrination that many of us follow even after we become adults and it ends up having a detrimental effect on the way our body handles food.

The need of the hour is to change our eating habits to have a healthier body, increased levels of energy and better self-esteem.

The first and foremost is to eat only when you are hungry. Sometimes dehydration causes hunger. Drink a glass of water and wait 30 minutes. If the hunger persists, it is time to eat. Remember, you don’t have to stick to meals to satisfy your hunger. You may even feel hungry between meals and you may eat fruits or high-carb snacks to satisfy your hunger.

Do not drink while eating. If you do, your stomach will fill with fluids and you won’t be able to eat. You can be sure that your hunger will return sooner than you expected and you will be forced to satiate it.

Chew your food slowly and swallow everything before putting the next spoonful in your mouth. There is no need to rush to finish your meal and once you feel you have eaten enough, stop eating completely. Don’t feel bad about wasting food. You will waste food a few times and then get used to cooking smaller portions.

Once you try the eating habits mentioned above, you will notice a marked difference in your energy levels and your body shape. The question then is to maintain the better eating habits for a healthy body, so that you feel the benefits for a long time.
