Weight Loss 101 – Can Eating a Big Breakfast Help You to Lose Weight? Part II

Eating a good breakfast is essential for many reasons, and one of those reasons is weight loss. Research shows that people who eat a healthy hearty breakfast are less likely to overeat and gain weight.

We’ve all heard the saying that you should eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen, and dinner like a pauper. This still applies. But unfortunately most people have this reversed. They would eat breakfast like a pauper, lunch like a queen, and supper like a king. This is a sure recipe for weight gain.

So we learned in part one of this article series that eating a good breakfast will regulate your blood sugar levels, increase your metabolic rate so you are more able to burn calories, increase your energy levels, improve mental function and your ability to especially to focus in the morning between eight and one. But what is a good breakfast? What I want to talk more about this in this particular article.

Many people skip breakfast because they see that they don’t have time in the morning. We all know that there is a huge rush in the morning to get ready, get the kids ready for school, and try to beat the traffic in an effort to get to work on time. This skin takes its toll both physically and mentally over time. One of the things I always suggest if you think you don’t have time to eat breakfast in the morning is to try to go to bed a little earlier, turn off the TV through all the snacks and go to bed. This way, you can wake up a little earlier, and you won’t feel so tired, because your body didn’t spend the whole night digesting all that food during the night.

This way you can make time for breakfast, which is the most important meal of the day. If this is a little difficult for you to do, try to plan something the night before and some pre-preparation of some of the foods you would eat for breakfast, this would cut down on your prep time in ‘ in the morning

So what about food what kind of food should I eat? For starters, a good breakfast should provide you with at least one third of your total allowed daily calories. To achieve this we need whole grain breads, whole grain cereals, fresh fruits and some raw nuts.

Try to avoid high sugar, highly refined highly processed cereal packages. These are not in your best interest and defeat the whole purpose of eating breakfast. Don’t be fooled by gimmicky, misleading advertising when it comes to cereal, Honey Nut Cheerios is one that comes to mind, so I’ll use this as my example. This particular batch has way more sugar than honey and way more salt than nuts, it’s highly refined, highly processed, and contains ingredients I can’t even pronounce. I don’t mean to pick on this particular serial, and if this is your favorite, I’m sorry. But my point here is that we need to become label readers. Forget about what they see on TV about this product or that product the most important thing is that the back of the packaging where the nutritional information is found. If sugar, or high fructose corn syrup, or any other type of sugar appears in the first five ingredients, leave it alone.

Eating a healthy breakfast is your first step towards weight loss and boosting your energy levels. So start eating your main meal of the day from tomorrow morning.
