It seems that in most areas of life, the more effort or training you put into something, the better results or more results you will get. In most areas of life this is true, but not in this one special field.

If you want to become smarter or get good grades, you study harder, if you want to become a better basketball player, you constantly work on your game. It makes sense right?

You would rationally think that if you put more time in the gym, lift weights and train, you will gain huge muscles, right?

It seems really illogical, but the right answer to this question is a big fat no! Unfortunately, most of the bodybuilding world does not seem to understand this principle.

I bet right now you might be asking yourself,

Can I really build muscle faster by spending less time working out in the gym?

If you​​​​ really understand how the body works, and how it repairs itself, the answer to this question is a massive YES!

Our human body is completely designed. All the trillions of cells in the body are designed to perform exactly as they should to maintain a great level of health and homeostasis.

Think about it. When your body is tired, you become sleepy, when you are sick you want to rest, when you are cut you form a scab and so on.

So what happens to our body when we break down muscle fibers when we do our best to build muscle in the gym?

If you answered that you are building muscle, then you are absolutely correct!

The key is to make your body feel that the muscular and skeletal system is threatened or compromised in some form. The human body is so smart what does it do to react? It responds to this threat by building muscle tissue faster. This is called hypertrophy. The most ideal way to build muscle faster is to keep your muscles thinking it should normally be in a state of shock and repair. You do this by muscle contraction and adding weight and or reps to our workout routines each week.

Don’t you think that’s pretty simple?

It’s simple to understand, but the one golden nugget you’re misunderstanding is that you need to give your muscles time to rest in order to build muscle faster. The R and R time is when you really build muscle. That doesn’t happen in the gym. Make sure you sleep too. Because cosmic energy is condensed at night, this is the time when muscles correct and rebuild the most.

You will build muscle faster if you push your muscles beyond their regular capacity. Once you have gone beyond your comfort point you have done your job. Just remember the further you push past your max, the longer it will take to recover and reconstruct. Remember that your whole goal here is to build muscle faster. So take care of yourself and don’t forget to rest.

I see many individuals in the gym doing too many sets or too many reps than what is right for them. Doing these things will hinder you from building muscle quickly. Doing high strength training takes more of a serious toll on your body than you are likely to believe. And it actually prevents you from achieving your goals.

Use these 3 key ideas to build muscle faster:

1) Train no more than 3 days a week.

2) Keep your gym workouts under sixty minutes each.

3) Perform 5-7 sets for the larger muscle groups such as the chest, back, & upper legs & 2-4 sets for the smaller muscles such as the shoulders, biceps, triceps, calves, and abs.

One final note: make sure you take your sets to your absolute concentric muscular failure and add more weight and reps each week. If you do things right, you will gain muscle faster and see results. The last thing you want to do at this point is add more workouts each week.

Doing so can only hinder your workout gains. So rest is really the key to building muscle faster.
