How to Increase Your Vertical Jump by Sleeping

A large majority of athletes and trainers believe that more training equals better results. This is how most athletes throughout history have trained. No pain, no gain, right?

WRONG! This is the furthest thing from the truth, and it’s a big reason why most athletes can never jump higher despite working out countless hours.

You get your results while you rest, not while you train…

Think about that for a moment. Spending hours in the gym working out 5 times a week, and then playing your sport on the remaining 2 days will NEVER make you jump higher.

In fact it will CUT DOWN your vertical leap continues over-training. The ONLY time your body starts to see results is while it is resting and recovering. Why? Because it is during this time that your muscles renew, rebuild, recover and grow.

How to properly rest and recover

1. Never work out after failure

  • Most athletes are taught to train until they can no longer move. This is the worst advice in the history of sports training. It’s a sure recipe for over-training and injury.
  • Focus on high intensity training, but NEVER on failure.
  • When you lift weights, lift heavy weights explosively, but NEVER to failure.

2. Get enough sleep every night

3. Eat right

  • Stay away from fatty/fast foods, which raise your cholesterol levels and clog your arteries.
  • Eat more good carbs like fruits and vegetables and avoid bad carbs and sugar based foods like sodas. Sugars have ZERO nutritional value and do nothing good for your body.
  • Eat enough protein on a daily basis especially immediately after you work out. This ensures that your muscles are supplied with the protein it needs to repair and rebuild muscles.
  • Drink lots of water through the day. 70% of the human body is made up of water, so it is very important to ensure that all your bodily processes run smoothly. By drinking at least 9 glasses of water a day, you ensure that your body works optimally.

4. Stretch daily

  • Stretching is VITAL because it improves circulation and prevents injuries.
  • Stretching also increases flexibility, and even increases your vertical jump. This is because the more a muscle can stretch, the more force it can potentially generate.
