Trying to lose weight can be any woman(s) worst nightmare…add to that the excitement of a new baby…and it spells disaster!. How can you eat, sleep and lose weight after a newborn, nurse?! Let’s first say, no new mother should be on a diet! With that said, as always watching and controlling WHAT you eat is still important for many if not all women.

With what I will explain, as a mom I could weigh 110lbs and have nine pack abs when my son was 10 months old! I eat what I wanted…..I can only imagine what a little control over the pasta and pizza would have given me!

You should try to eat as often as you can, and consume the most balanced diet possible while attending to your newborn. Your newborn depends on your energy and your happiness. Try to snack on fresh vegetables and fruits. These are no excuse snacks, that you can grab with one hand while nursing. Make sure you don’t cut your carbs or protein because they are an important part of living and breathing while being a new mom. And never tolerate a protein only diet!! This is very harmful!

So what do you do? Instead of trying the internet to find a diet or in the most desperate situations, a pill that will solve everything, Hit the streets!!

Start when the doctor says it is safe to exercise. Choose a time when baby is most happy and content. You may need to drive to a flat location. I live on the highest part of our town so I make the drive to the local waterfront walkway. You don’t need an expensive stroller to do these activities, although a three-wheeled jogger makes a nice J

The number one thing to remember when trying to lose weight;

*NEVER INVEST IN ANYTHING UNTIL YOU KNOW IT WORKS FOR YOU*

The benefits can be found in the balance between jogging and walking. A simple 25-minute walk with your newborn can turn into a fat-burning, self-esteem-boosting miracle that won’t cost you a cent or rob you or your baby of nutrients. The key to losing weight while you’re a new mom with little time and energy to spare is to work it into your daily life activities. There are very few mothers who do not take their baby for a walk.

There are 5 things to remember if you are a new mom looking to lose weight;

1) Never, ever starve yourself – this actually causes you to gain more weight as your body goes into self-preservation mode, not to mention you’re probably starving your baby at the same time!

2) Every woman is different – we gain weight differently and we lose it in different ways – never measure yourself against anyone else, only against your own personal best!

3) Weight loss success is the balance between intense cardio and moderate cardio!

4) Your babies needs come first – with that said this needs to be a balance in your life, too much dedication can lead to mother burnout syndrome!!

5) Setting a monumental goal to physically achieve is one of the best weight loss programs our minds invented!
