Fatigue Nutrition Is The New Sports Nutrition
Today I am proposing a new definition for the popular term Sports Nutrition. I want Sports Nutrition to be called Fatigue Nutrition. Why? Because I believe that all endurance sports are based on the body’s ability to beat fatigue.
I’ve been running for 10 years and the biggest issue with my training and racing is fatigue. The body and mind are tired and only rest and food can reverse the effects.
Fatigue nutrition is based on wisdom and international research. This means eating a balanced diet consisting of unprocessed foods, fruits and vegetables. The research is based on 10 years of running and studying the important concepts of endurance exercise and sports nutrition.
Have you ever wondered what the effects of diet and rest are on endurance exercise? Try running a half marathon after eating a hamburger, french fries and a 32 oz soda. You’ll soon know why a Tired Moisturizer is so important. Or try running a marathon after sleeping two or three hours a night for a week.
How Does Fatigue Nutrition Work? By eating the nutrients the body needs to build and repair itself. Preparing food and fluids to compensate the mind and body for increased fatigue.
Eating time is the most misunderstood concept of Nutritional Fatigue. In order to successfully complete an endurance exercise session one needs to be well hydrated, eat the right food and have time for the body to use the nutrients and hydration it has received. A common misconception is that the body needs food before a morning workout. Believe it or not, the food consumed from supper the day before still provides a chance for a perfect performance. Why? Muscles still have glycogen in them and have the energy to use it. You always want to hydrate before starting your morning workout.
What makes this work so good is because the food has been fully digested and the muscles are receiving oxygenated blood throughout the circulation. When the muscles distribute blood to the stomach during digestion, they distribute oxygen and blood volume.
After morning workouts, Nutrition Lodge is a very important activity. Once you’re done, the recovery begins. Drink 16 – 32 oz of sports drink. Enjoy your bath and a good breakfast. Oatmeal with eggs and granola are good choices. By replenishing your body and mind you will reduce fatigue during your work day and you will be more alert to perform your daily tasks.
