Green Tea Versus Yerba Mate – Discover The Health Benefits Of These Two Before Your Next Cup Of Brew

Every day people turn on their computers to find information about green tea and yerba mate in their health benefits. For some, the need to balance their benefits can be weight loss, while others want to balance their health benefits. So, let’s start with green tea and yerba mate in their health benefits.

  • Suppressing desire
  • Mental stimulation
  • It promotes the production of cortisone

  • Diuretic

Yerba mate may be useful for:

  • allergies
  • Throat
  • Inflammatory cancers
  • PMS water retention
  • Mental and physical exhaustion
  • It shows promise as a weight loss agent

Functions and uses of green tea:

  • Antioxidant
  • It stimulates the immune system
  • Tooth decay fighter (large pocket)
  • Prevent cancer
  • Define aging
  • Preventing heart disease by lowering cholesterol levels and blood pressure
  • It is possible to delay the onset of atherosclerosis

Green tea may be useful for:

  • asthma
  • diarrhea
  • Mental fatigue
  • The gift
  • It shows promise as an aid in weight loss

Now, let’s move on to the nature of these two. Both are antioxidants, contain caffeine, and have been touted as weight loss aids. So, let’s start with green tea versus yerba mate as a free radical fighter.

Vitamins

Both yerba mate and green tea contain antioxidant properties. Antioxidants are disease fighting substances that ward off the constant attack of free radicals. Free radicals are neutral oxygen molecules that damage cells as they travel through the body and are thought to contribute to cancer, aging, and many degenerative diseases, including to atherosclerosis and heart disease if not checked.

The main contributors that have helped green tea’s claim to fame are a group of powerful antioxidants called polyphenols, particularly one polyphenol called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). In fact, researchers found that EGCG is 200 times more powerful than the well-known antioxidant vitamin E at neutralizing free radicals.

However, yerba mate is said to contain polyphenols similar to those in green tea, compounds that inhibit the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL, “bad”) cholesterol in the process of atherosclerosis.

The Nutritionist-Education Center’s Opinion on Green Tea and Yerba Acid as Antioxidants

Honestly, we take green tea for our free radical protection because of the following:

First, we were very impressed with the population studies of green tea. For example, according to the famous book “The Natural Physician’s Healing Therapies” written by Mark Stengler, ND it says:

“In general, it has been found that in populations of people who consume green tea on a regular basis, the risk of human cancer is lower than in populations where people drink other types of tea or not. In Japan, for example, researchers said that the cancer rate is very low. In most cases, they think, it is due to the consumption of green tea.” (Page 246.)

Second, after extensive research through many different health books written by Naturopaths and others, it was not found that much was written on the antioxidant properties of yerba mate except for what was mentioned on recently. On the other hand, the fascinating stories about the potential health benefits of green tea due to its antioxidant properties are endless. Of course, no studies have been published on yerba mate, so the debate between green tea and yerba mate over their potential antioxidant benefits, green tea won in a landslide.

However, keep in mind that, as with other herbs, many of the medicinal claims for green tea have not been tested outside the laboratory, especially in clinical trials assessing the health effects of tea on the person. However, the antioxidant properties of green tea may help prevent various types of cancer, prevent heart disease by lowering cholesterol levels and blood pressure, and fight aging.

With that said, they should switch to green tea and yerba mate in their coffee.

Caffeine Content

An average cup (6 oz.) of green tea contains about 50 milligrams of caffeine. For those intolerant to caffeine, green tea is available in decaffeinated and supplement form. In other words, the coffee has been removed.

What does yerba mate coffee look like?

An average cup (6 oz.) of yerba mate contains about 50 milligrams of caffeine.

So, how much caffeine is in a cup of brewed coffee? On average, about 100 to 150 milligrams per cup.

Weight-Loss – Green Tea or Yerba Friend?

One of the most important of these two is to compare green tea with yerba mate in their weight loss benefits. Let’s start with yerba mate.

First, despite the claims, yerba mate contains caffeine, and because of that, the first component of weight loss is caffeine. As such, when used alongside guarana and damiana, herbs that contain caffeine, yerba mate was found in one study to delay gastric emptying and weight loss. However, as far as we know, no studies have shown that yerba mate alone is associated with weight loss. For those who want to dive deeper into this research, it can be found in PubMed.

Yes, green tea has received a lot of attention for its weight loss benefits. Swiss researchers have first evidence that green tea burns fat calories faster in people who are overweight. A small but interesting study was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Vol. 70, No. 6, 1040-1045, December 1999 found that “Green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond what is explained by its caffeine content. activation of thermogenesis, oxidation fat or two.”

So, what’s the bottom line about green tea and yerba mate in their weight loss benefits?

Green tea and yerba mate need more well-designed and conducted clinical studies to confirm their effectiveness and safety as weight loss aids.

Nutritionist-Education-Book recommends green tea and Yerba mate to help with weight loss.

We truly believe that diet and exercise are the best ways to lose weight. However, if you’ve decided to go the extra mile and decide between the two, it’s hard to know which, if anything, will help you. In addition, we strongly recommend that you use it under the supervision of a doctor.

Warning

A study done in Uruguay and Paraguay linked esophageal cancer in heavy users. However, our research suggests that these findings may not be relevant to Americans who drink a friend’s cup occasionally.

Consult a physician before taking any medicinal form of yerba mate or green tea, or taking any dietary supplements.
