New Year, New You – Part I
January 1st is almost over. The day went by like any other day. On December 31 at 11:59 one important fact remains: WAITS WAITS FOR NO MAN. If you’re like millions of Americans across the country you make a New Year’s Resolution and vow to keep it. You will pray again that this year will be different!
Your new year resolution is to get rid of debt, spend more time with your family, get organized, get rid of clutter, and finally lose weight. I was a resident teacher you knew one was coming. How is this year different from 2006 or 2012?
What happens throughout the year, do you still make that New Year’s Resolution every year? What if you keep that New Year’s Resolution and lose weight? You can move forward with another important decision. My goal for you and every reader is for you to reach your health goals. How do we do it?
Food is consumed that is not eaten to replace the gift that is supposed to be filled. Feelings of loneliness, boredom, avoidance of reality, stress, conflict, rejection, abandonment, or anxiety. The key to controlling what you eat is to identify why you eat emotionally. To help you understand why you eat to deal with an emotion we list the typical reasons we sometimes use food to address that emotion.
STEP 1. YOU NEED TO.
My salvation is to surrender everything in my life to God. I was tired of trying to juggle my work and friendships. Yes I am still single and patiently waiting on the Lord. Recovery for you may change your thinking in a positive way. What does the day tell you? What is your inner message? We all do it. I’ve done it and I’m starting to listen to myself. Be alone with your thoughts and discuss why you say:
“Things are never going well for me!” “I can’t do it right,” “I’m so stupid”
“I have the worst luck,” “Everyone in my family is overweight!”
Thoughts and words are very powerful. It’s a saying I hate hearing parents say about their kids. It’s cute to say but it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. Have you ever heard someone talk about a child and say, “He’s so bad!”? From the moment a child begins to understand, children know more than we give them credit for when they hear their mother say those words. So, a child from the age of 5 -16 hears “He is very bad” for 9 years. As a big boy his mother or father has decided that he is bad.
When he starts fighting and ends up in jail or prison, we wonder what happened? That’s what happened. He heard “HE IS SO BAD ” for 9 years and thought it was me. I gave this example to show that what we say and what we say to ourselves is just as powerful. So be mindful of what you say to yourself, if it doesn’t work, start surrounding yourself with good friends, music and people.
STEP 2: REQUIRED
Many people set goals for themselves but lack the will to do the necessary work. Losing weight and implementing a healthy lifestyle is not just about your appearance. It’s about your thoughts. It’s about the work ethic you instill in yourself to achieve your fitness goals and any other goals you may have. If you don’t want to work hard and meet your weekly fitness goals, continue with your old habits. Because working out and losing weight requires changing your life.
STEP 3: INSTALLATION
Decide that this is the last time you will fail to reach your fitness goals. If you are not reaching your fitness goals ask yourself what other goals you have set for yourself that you are not achieving. I promise if your health and fitness goals are not being met there are other areas of your life that are suffering as well. Make a decision to move forward with your goal. Commit to setting fitness goals. 2 pounds per week is a great goal. It may not seem like much but add 2 pounds per week and you will lose 8 pounds per month.
