Your Weight Could Be A Result Of Your 6 Human Needs
The Six Human Needs is something I heard from Tony Robbins, but it may be a big reason why you are stressed.
According to Robbins, we all want to fulfill all of these needs, and we find ways to do it. They drive our decisions whether it’s good and good for us, or really bad and good for us. Let me tell you what the six needs are and how they relate to weight loss (or lack thereof).
The first need is the need for Justice – especially if an activity helps you to avoid pain and comfort, or makes you happy, and saves you.
Second is the need for Shadow/Different – because you know everything and what’s going to happen can be very boring.
Third is the need for Significance – doing something or being someone that makes you feel special.
Fourth is the need for Connection/Attention – especially the need for unconditional love. This includes a spouse, friend, or a pleasant conversation with a stranger.
Fifth is the need for Growth – if the organism does not grow it will die. This affects things like relationships, careers, and our mental health.
Sixth is the desire to Give – to give something back to the world or to others. Fulfilling this need automatically fulfills all other needs.
Satisfying 3 or more of these needs at a high level (i.e. 7 or more on a scale of 1 to 10) can be addictive, but the ultimate need varies from person to person. to each person. This means that your top 2 will have a strong influence on the decisions you make throughout your life, even if it doesn’t seem to make sense at the time.
For example, if you can’t get a promotion because your performance isn’t great, even with a raise, then loyalty should be your priority. But if you don’t take the promotion because it means you get your own office, you spend more time at your computer and less time with people, love/relationship is more important.
But what does this have to do with your weight?
Well, let’s look at each need and how to do it.
First, it’s true. How does one know about food? Yes, if you’re depressed or stressed, chocolate or bagels are less harmful to you and will make you feel better. When your life is chaotic and full of problems, you can count on your favorite chocolate bar to taste the same every time.
Next is uncertainty/difference. How many different types of food are there in the world, how many different types of food can be cooked, how many different combinations? I don’t know, but a lot. It’s possible to eat something different every day for the rest of your life so if your job is boring or your relationship is boring or if life is just boring, there’s a new food to try!
Next is the importance. But how can a person gain weight and gain weight? Well, if you’re not the most important or the most important person, being overweight can make you stand out. The more you weigh the more this will happen. I once saw a television program about the heaviest man in Britain who had held the title for many years. When he was told that this was no longer the case and that he was only the SECOND heaviest man in Britain he was throwing the TV crew out of his house he was furious! After that he calmed down and let them in to talk to him again, and it turned out that the only thing that was going on with him (in his mind) was his weight. It made him feel important and important, even though he never left his house. While I’m not saying your problem is anywhere near this serious, it’s a good example of what I said earlier about needs not always being met in the best ways.
Love/Connection over food? Many people say they like food but that is not true. Maybe not, but if a person does not really love and connect in his life, because of the pleasure of food he will join himself. They also feel cared for and loved, even if they are the ones nurturing them. All foods, especially those high in fat or sugar, cause the body to release feel-good chemicals called endorphins. If you’re not compatible, your need for love/connection may be met through food because you don’t eat alone. You eat out with friends or where other people are.
Growing from food? And it’s not just your waist? This doesn’t seem like a romance/relationship but if you’re cooking your own food and being a gourmet chef, it’s a natural thing to do. It’s also very good. Especially if you can cook for others you may help them improve their cooking skills. This can also lead to…
Contribution. Cooking for friends and family, hosting dinner parties, teaching others to cook. These are all types of contributions, and as I said before, fulfilling this need will fulfill all needs.
That’s one example of how food can satisfy your six needs, but there are many ways it can be done. Hopefully by now you know how to figure out how to satisfy your cravings, and then you’ll be hooked. It may be a good idea to first rank the six needs in order of importance to you, and by focusing on the top two, you will better understand why you prefer to eating badly and being overweight than eating right and being overweight. be lean.
I know what you’re thinking. You’ll want to know what to do with this information after you’ve gone through the trouble of sorting it all out.
Yes, all of our needs are met by the use of so-called vehicles, in this case food, but examples of the worst vehicles are alcohol, drugs, and even food poisoning. I’ve already talked about how being overweight can fulfill a great need, but being anorexic has the same effect, fulfilling a need for love/connection from friends and relatives that worried.
So, what’s a different, better way to satisfy your cravings than food?
How about exercise? This may not be the case at the moment as this is what you want and the gym…
Realization avoids pain and brings joy. No chance. The process is difficult, painful in every sense of the word, and the only option is to walk the exit.
Inconsistency/contrast. This is no longer the case. Where is the type of crash on a treadmill for hours staring at an empty wall or picking up weights to drop again?
Importance. Being red-faced and sweaty in a gym full of fitness enthusiasts may make you unique, but it doesn’t necessarily fulfill the need for excellence.
Love/Relationship. Love the latest version of the torture chamber where everyone is talking about new exercise techniques that may be in a foreign language for all the techniques you’re dealing with? Probably not.
Growth. Surrounded by all the good bodies, you grow up hating yourself and feeling like a loser. No thanks.
Contribution. How can you contribute to something you don’t know and something you’re not good at?
No one meets the needs and that vision of exercise. But by seeing things a little differently, and better, exercise can satisfy your needs at a higher level than eating. Of course you will still eat, but it will be a source of fuel to keep your body healthy, rather than a source of health. It seems impossible but many people have changed, and some of them love to eat and really hate to exercise you!
Absolutely. Even though the actual exercise may not seem like much fun in the moment, the endorphin rush and the sense of pride and accomplishment at the end of another workout are immediately after. Not to mention good practices to maintain a beautiful body that is fit and healthy.
Inconsistency/inconsistency. To someone who has done little or no exercise it may seem very repetitive and boring, but there are many types of exercise that can be done in many ways. Changing the workouts regularly, whether every two months, every two weeks, or every day, can provide you with unlimited variety.
Importance. As serious as you get out, it will feel good. I don’t mean thin because you don’t eat, I mean slim, fit and energetic. Think about how people envy your body and want them to be motivated and determined to have the same result.
Love/Relationship. Whether you are skinny, fit, overweight, or in bad shape, there will be someone in the gym on the same stage as you. You may not find love (though who knows!) but you may find like-minded people with similar goals that you can connect with.
Growth. It’s not just about the muscles, it’s about learning new knowledge and skills that will benefit your mind. Even if it takes time to become a professional athlete, you may discover a talent or natural ability for exercise that you didn’t know you had.
Contribution. When you connect with others at the gym, you can, and then you start contributing to their goals by motivating them, telling them what worked or didn’t work. that worked for you in the past, or inspire them with your own stories about how you went from fat to fit. You might even decide to write your own diet and fitness book!
Can you see how changing the perspective of one task can change your entire perception of that task? And how can this fulfill your needs in a sense that food is no longer a vehicle?
But exercise is not a substitute. Cars that are good will work, and more than one. Exercise may fulfill your need for gift, your girlfriend may fulfill your need for love/connection, your job may fulfill your need for significance, and so on. The more ways you have to fulfill each need the better.
Since food is good and replaces food as a source to meet your needs, the task of losing weight becomes easier.
