Weight Loss Wars- Circuit Training vs. Supersets

I’ve always believed that supersets are best for burning fat, but strength coach John Barban tells me I’m wrong! John recommends “6 Minute Circuits” for women for weight loss, so I grilled him on the methods and why his method works better than mine.

Like me, John is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a strong academic and training coach (as I used to be).

John specializes in training female athletes, particularly female ice hockey players, and holds a master’s in food science and human agriculture from the University of Guelph.

CB: John, what’s the circuit instead of a combination set or a direct set

JB:

We found many benefits using small spaces with this exercise.

For starters they focus on the whole body in each circuit. I designed each small circuit to hit every major muscle group in the body.

This has two effects:

1) your heart rate increases for the entire mini circuit and your metabolism revs up and starts burning more calories and fat. This type of training eliminates the need for long slow cardio, and believe it or not, it burns more calories than a typical cardio workout would!

2) Works all the major muscle groups in your body so you get a full body workout and toning effect with each mini circuit.

These are just the physical and metabolic benefits that are so great.

Another big advantage is variety. The small spaces we use are constantly changing and incorporating different functions and variations. They are happy to work and keep the job fresh.

This is a benefit that I did not expect but all the women who do this work always mention how much fun and different everything they did.

CB: What kind of products will your customers receive?

JB:

My clients are losing weight and gaining fat faster than they used to.

I would say that everyone who has started this program has accelerated their work in weeks to months. orders are coming in from my non-athlete clients in record time, and our athletes are ready for their season ahead of schedule.

He does what I created him to do; get slim and feel good and look good all at once!

CB: What kind of clients do you use this for?

JB:

The 6 Minute Circuits Workout is built from the principles I use to train all my top level athletes.

We started using it with team girls and other individual athletes (I train fitness athletes, fashion models, and individual sports athletes of all types)

They all got into shape faster by mid-season than any other program we’ve used, which made me happy and the girls really happy.

And so some of my non-athletic clients who have seen my work with the gym team ask what they do and want to try…

So it hit me, why not just train all my clients like elite level athletes…after all the girls on the team and my other athlete clients looked like they were going to die my non-athlete clients. So they really wanted to train like those girls were trained.

I put all my clients through this training, and the results speak for themselves.

All of my clients are athletes, non-athletes, busy working moms, young professionals, women who train at home, beginners, and gym goers all converted with good results.

CB: Where are these internships?

JB:

All can be done at home.

I designed this approach on purpose. And the workouts we’ve found to be the best don’t require fancy gym equipment, so it doesn’t matter where you want to exercise, you can do this exercise anywhere and for very little. of equipment.

A set of dumbbells (and if you don’t have dumbbells at home you can use a couple of soup cans to start) and a stability ball are all you need.

It’s comfortable to sit on, but if you exercise at home and don’t have a bench you can substitute a stability ball, and if you don’t you can use items around your house for exercises. all we use. a site for.
