What Is Weight Loss Anyway?

I’m writing this article just out of curiosity. Most people do not know the definition of weight loss. They don’t know why they want to lose weight. Some people have serious health problems but for most people weight loss is a matter of style and beauty. I know you have your own reasons for losing weight but you need to be clear about your reason so that your path is clear.

9 out of 10 girls try to lose weight every day. Women are always worried about their weight gain. For teenagers, weight loss is a daily issue, not a health issue. So, what is weight loss? Is it fashion or a health issue?

I know you have been trying to lose weight for a long time. Your doctor told you to go on a diet to lose some pounds. How do you know if you are overweight or not?

Last week a customer asked me:

“My BMI is 24. I’m happy and healthy. Do you think I should lose weight?”

This question got me thinking. If a person is healthy, there is no need to lose weight. In scientific terms, when your doctor asks you to lose weight he wants you to avoid these diseases:

  • Heart attacks
  • Cholesterol increase
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes

If you can maintain your health even though you have gained weight; no need to worry about a few pounds.

However, this is not the case. Most people want to lose weight because they want to look slim and beautiful. There is nothing wrong with their health but they don’t look good.

In order to survive, our body stores fat for the reproductive system, to protect nerves and tissues, and to store energy. This is good. However, storing too much fat can affect your health and fitness.

BMI (body mass index) is a measurement that gives results based on your height and weight. However, BMI doesn’t tell about pregnancy, body composition, and many other things. There are many tests including fat analysis, metabolism monitor etc. These tests determine whether you are overweight or not.

If you are overweight and have excess body fat it may cause health problems.

This is when the word weight loss comes into play. Both new and old studies have shown us that consuming fewer calories and burning fewer calories is the most important factor in weight gain. The increased number of calories stored in your thighs and hips will increase your weight. This is the commonly known definition of “heavy goods.”

The term obese means that you weigh more than the ideal body weight for a certain height. Millions of Americans are overweight or obese. To solve their obesity, the word weight loss has been introduced. Losing pounds is called body weight loss. However, this can be done in a million ways:

  • The food
  • Exercise
  • Addendum
  • Yoga
  • Chinese techniques such as acupuncture and other healing terms
  • Joining a gym/slimming club
  • Combination of diet and exercise

As you can see, the weight loss of time is all these things. To successfully lose weight, all these things must be combined with exercise. But before you do you need to know what weight loss means to you. This is important. If you want to stay healthy, you should never go for crash diet plans. Many times people want to look lighter, so they use programs like lose weight in 24 hours, etc. Regardless of the method you choose, it will largely depend on your reason for losing weight.
