This generation is consumed by food. The idea of an ideal weight has taken over the public consciousness. Running from pillar to post trying to be ‘healthy’ but not having good results or not. In this article today, we come together and commit to a new diet plan. This is called, ‘The Healthy Eating Plan’.
The Problem – Food has overtaken our ability to enjoy it. Supermarkets are flooded with over-packaged and overpriced ‘bulk foods’ but nobody knows half of the food. Ideal weight is a distant dream. We are all just fooling ourselves.
The Solution – The solution is very simple. We need to wake up from our deep sleep. We need to throw away all the fancy labels and unlearn all the bad news we’ve learned over the years.
Planning – Here are some tips to get you started. Baby steps are for the faint of heart. If you are serious about losing weight start now. Here’s how;
Protect the environment: Stop buying packaged food. Reduce your waste by seventy percent. Only buy fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables from the farmers market. Make a new meal every day. It is not difficult if the weekend is used for preparation.
A sample meal plan:
Breakfast:
Whole wheat pancakes with maple syrup and honey (1 tsp per pancake)
Snacks:
Sugar-free and fat-free milk (I make homemade yogurt)
Dinner:
1 bowl of salad + protein (mostly eggs) + barley
Snacks:
1 Product
Dinner:
1/2 cup rice/barley + a protein shake + salad
Afternoon Snack: Still hungry? You should go to bed 2 hours after eating.
Keep light vegetable soup at home for those hungry nights.
Grow your own: micro greens make an energy-packed salad. It can be grown in small pots or plants near the window. If you have a garden, have a nice vegetable patch.
Quick: You don’t need expensive gym memberships. Here is a list of amazing activity ideas:
Walk – start with 10000 steps a day and work up to 15000 steps. You can
Running – Just twice a week is fine. Other days it’s back to walking
YouTube – Use it for more than just videos. An amazing collection of workouts, yoga videos, pilates videos. That’s how I started.
Hydration: We all know this. But in case you missed it – Drink Water! Cut out all sugary drinks. Water is just fine. Cold water is good. I add a lemon wedge to my bottle every other day. My system will be disabled.
Numbers: Don’t worry too much about numbers. The number on the scale and those on the tape measure will get smaller as your posture is correct and you will notice the difference.
I call it the common sense meal plan. It’s hard to follow but it pays off. Ask yourself – when was simplicity good?
