The Water Diet – Is It Safe and Does It Work?

Either way, the key to a Water Diet is to drink at least eight 8-oz glasses of cold water each day.

At first glance it doesn’t seem like an effective way to lose weight. After all, how can drinking water lead to weight loss? However, there are some reasons why it works, and some recent studies have shown that it can have an effect on weight loss.

The research in question was conducted by Virginia Tech and presented at the National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS) by lead author Brenda Davy, Ph.D. Clinical trials have shown that adults who drink two glasses of water before their meals, while eating a low-calorie diet, eat up to 90 fewer calories than food. Over 12 weeks, those who drank water lost 44% more weight (5 pounds) than those who didn’t.
