Six Week Body Makeover – It Worked Initially, Now to Keep the Weight Off!

The six week body makeover diet was developed by a guy called Micheal Thurmond. He was an overweight adolescent, who struggled with maintaining a healthy weight. He developed a unique weight loss program, which claims drastic weight loss (up to 30 lbs!) with minimum exercise over a period of 6 weeks. If you are very overweight, you must make an appointment to see your Doctor to make sure, it is safe to go on such a drastic weight loss program. I gained 40 lbs during my 3 pregnancies and felt miserable. It was like having heavy suitcases strapped to my body. I visited my doctor and got the green light to start the program.

My plan was to lose weight fast within six weeks when I stopped breast-feeding and then start a rigorous exercise plan when I was a more comfortable weight to maintain my ideal weight. The great thing about the six week body makeover, is that very little exercise is required, only 20 minutes twice a week. The exercises are targeting your specific problem areas, for me my five bellies! and wobbly bottom. When you are very heavy it is hard to motivate yourself to do lots of exercise.

The food preparation was simple, but you have to cook with fresh ingredients from scratch, which was good for the whole family, no more take aways or frozen meals. You are required to eat 6 small meals per day. My favourite recipes were oven baked chips using potato wedges rolled in a mixture of fluffy egg whites, paprika and pepper and egg white omelet with spring onion. The diet does not allow dairy, caffeine or sugar, no coffee was miserable to start with, I did get used to it and felt better and slept like a baby. My kids continued having milk and cheese and normal breakfast cereals but I did cut sugar from their diet, as I don’t want my kids to be fat sugar junkies. I now don’t eat carbs in the evening and eat healthy 80% of the time.

I have kept the weight off by using the six week body make over program to give me a kickstart and then cranking up the exercise and eating for my body type. I now exercise most days, 1 hour fast walking (including hills) with my dog and 2 or 3 dance classes per week. I have just recently started Zumba, the results and fat burning are amazing, I am currently 110 lbs and want to stay that way. I have lots more energy and feel confident. Clothes shopping is much more satisfying.
