How To Stay Lean Over The Holidays While Still Enjoying Good Foods
NOTE: the following approach works for any holiday season!
I love Christmas! I really do.
How cool would it would be to truly make it last all year!
The one downside: everybody would look like Santa… jolly, fat and round!
OK, don’t worry, I’m not going to tell you to diet over X-Mas or to have whole grain muffins only.
Christmas Holidays is the one time in the year where you really don’t want to have to worry about diet and all that body fat-thingy and all that. It’s the one time you really want to let your hair down, enjoy yourself, and maybe even “feast” a little.
But… there’s only one problem with that, isn’t it?
Folks tend to seriously gain (fat) weight, it’s not exactly all that healthy, and then, afterwards, you have all that guilt-trip going on…
Some even throw out their healthy life-style altogether and end up blowing up like a balloon!
That leads to bad health, bad looks and a short life… not so good, eh? Not so jolly.
But it doesn’t have to be like that at all. What if there were a way to go all-out over the Holidays and still stay healthy and lean? Sound too good to be true? Bear with me…
So here’s what I do, and it works like a charm:
I suffer up-front instead of afterwards.
I go down to 4 % body fat and then, over the Holidays, allow the percentage to go up to 7. That’s still within my upper-range. Because of the Hormonal Response to the over-eating and fat-gain, leaning out afterwards by another 1-2 % -so back down to 5/6 %- is going to be EASY!
Now let’s do the maths: without getting to complex, for my body weight to go from 4 to 7 % means about 5 pounds+… of body fat.
Note: that doesn’t mean body weight, which might climb up by quite a bit more than that, mainly because of water-retention. We’re talking pure lard. Gaining 2.5 kg fat can temporarily up your total body weight by as much as 10 pounds and more!
But we’re not concerned with that, we look at pure fat-gains only.
Now, 5 pounds body fat equals… drum-roll… a good 20.000 kcls!
That’s Twenty THOUSAND calories in chocolate-chip cookies, Quadruple Chocolate Cake, Eggnog, Glühwein, Pancakes, Custard Cream Doughnuts…
OK, OK, I’m fine… I’m calm, I’m calm!
So that makes, in my estimation, a good 7 days at a whole 5.000 calories of glorious Christmas food and drink! (remember, we will go ABOVE maintenance to gain that weight! That’s 2000 maintenance-calories a day I my case, plus 7 x 3000 extra = 21000!
Oh Glory Be!
7 full days of Christmas ‘Foodie-Cheers’ (and Party) spread evenly over the Holidays… it doesn’t hardly get any better than that!
Check it out, it’s well worth the “suffering” of dieting down first… have a cool super-lean photo-shoot when you’re at your best… and then LIVE THE LIFE!!
Merry Christmas, Everyone!
PS: Secret X-Mas Body Building-Tip: Do some lifting on those High Calorie-Days: because then you will be Super-Anabolic!
So there you go, a cool way to enjoy the Holidays fully, and still look great and be -and stay-lean.
Much better than all that post-holiday guilt and blubber, if you ask me.
For a while, just forget about it all, and enjoy!
Doing it right, this will be good for your mental, and even your physical, shape.
One more tip: adding a lot of fiber, like psyllium husk and oat bran to home-made cookies and cake will make them healthier and more filling. Some red wine is -in limits- good for you, too.
