How to Get Ripped Abs With John Alvino’s Fat Loss System
I have been in the fitness industry for 25 years now and have been on many fat loss and weight training programs but I have to say my biggest challenge is sometimes just staying thin once I get there. I love to eat pizza and ice cream with my kids as much as anyone but sometimes I go too far and over the course of a few months can put on some fat because the weight training routine I do doesn’t burn a lot of fat to keep me lean. I have decided to take the next 12 weeks to switch to pure conditioning and fat loss exercises so that I can see my abs again and feel healthy again. I am currently testing a program called How to Get Ripped Abs by John Alvino. I know how to write my own diet and fat loss program but sometimes after I write it I start to second guess myself through the program and keep making changes. I want a program that lays it out from start to finish so I don’t have to think about it. I just want to follow the instructions and let the fat burn.
How to Get Ripped Abs definitely has it all, which is why I was drawn to this particular program. This package includes everything you could possibly need without leaving anything to chance. It has a 12-week workout program, a customized meal plan based on your lean body weight, recipes and a comprehensive workout index that details each workout with pictures.
The exercise program is called Meltdown and is divided into 4 phases each lasting 3 weeks. This is a very intensive full body workout labeled workout A and workout B performed daily 3 days a week with 3 alternate days used for high intensity interval training cardio. This is one of the most effective fat burning exercises I have ever seen designed. The reason is that each exercise is designed to use the maximum amount of your muscles, stabilize your muscles, and your core. An example is the single leg curl on the ball. I thought this looked easy in the book but once I tried it and realized I was stabilizing my whole body while sliding the ball back, I found I couldn’t complete 12 reps. This book is loaded with these intense full-body workouts that in turn burn fat faster than isolation workouts or standard weightlifting exercises can.
There is also a lot of dumbbell work with exercises that train several muscles at once. I was exhausted after my first workout and now I know why the workout is called Meltdown. Every muscle in my body was tired and I was ready to rest. The program also allows you to print out your workouts in chart format so you can fill in your weights and reps. I print out my exercises and put them on a clipboard with a printout of the exercise descriptions in case I need to refer back to how to do some specific exercise that I’m not familiar with.
Focus on cardio on days you don’t train with weights. They are high intensity and there are several to choose from. This book contains cardio variations that can be done without equipment which is great because then I can limit my trips to the gym to just 3 times a week.
Since everyone is different, this program is tailored to your individual body type and lean body mass. There is nothing to guess here because there is an individual meal plan for each person set according to daily calories. The meal plan has a food chart that makes it easy to swap some foods for other foods. This is not a diet because you will not starve at all. This program requires you to eat a lot of food. Anywhere from 5 to 6 meals a day spaced throughout the day. There is an emphasis on clean whole foods and when you start eating this way you will find you are full quickly, you are never tired and you are never hungry. There is a separate book included that gives recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and desert. Also included is a protein shake recipe book. The entire nutrition program is very specific to the individual and gives a lot of instructions on what to eat and how much. A food log is also included that you can fill in as well as a daily menu that is easy to follow.
If you’re looking for a full package fitness program, I really think How to Get Ripped Abs is a breeze. Think of it like painting by numbers. If you just follow each day exactly as shown, your body will melt fat consistently while achieving a very high level of physical condition. I will follow the 12 week plan to the letter.
