Spiced black tea should be at a high temperature of 200-212 degrees F. Herbal tea should be at a temperature of 212 degrees F.

Now let’s go to the infusion part of the process. This is when you need to allow the tea leaves to fully unfold so that all the goodness and nutrients can be absorbed into the water.

You can use tea balls to infuse your tea. It is easy to use and very convenient when leaning, but it does not allow enough space for the tea leaves to fully expand. You can use a filter in a cup to brew tea especially when you only make one cup of tea. It works better than tea balls and is very easy to use. Some teapots have built-in filters that make them easy to use. A teapot works best for steeping your tea completely, especially when you are brewing more than one cup of tea.

How long you need to brew your drink depends on the type of leaf you use. For white or green tea leave for 2 to 3 minutes. Oolong tea should be brewed for 3 to 7 minutes. Light oolong needs to be brewed for a maximum of 5 minutes while dark oolong requires a brewing time of 7 minutes. Black tea should be brewed from 3 to 5 minutes. For herbal tea there is no set brewing time. The time depends entirely on the type of herbal tea you are making.
