The History of Weight Loss – Bring on the Fat Flappers
If you ever get a history book, flip through and take special note of what body sizes seem to be the norm for each time period. Body weights and ideals have changed over the years, just as they continue to do now. What’s in fashion can be determined by the type of clothing that’s popular — some styles just need thinner frames to fit right. Some cultures will worship a larger member because it is a sign of prosperity – only the rich can be fat. Americans stand back — here only very skinny rich people.
Why is that? Is it because rich people are given “magic” foods that allow them to stay thin? In reality, rich people stay that way because they are fed small, branded meals created by personal chefs and they have trainers, nutritionists and others working around the clock to keep them that way. There is no magic involved.
Skinny and fat have been knocking each other off the top of the popularity charts for hundreds of years. Take a look at the creations of some of the world’s most famous artists; see which models they choose to work with. Ruben would be laughed at by the art community if he were alive today and still chose the same model. Remember a few years ago when protein diets made a big comeback? Suddenly everyone is eating burgers, but no bread. You can have a pan full of meat, but you can’t have toast to get rid of the fat. Eat a pound of beef at every meal, but don’t you dare let a potato touch your lips. The list of vegetables that are on the no-no list for this diet is untrue and even worse – fruits are banned just like Death by Chocolate cake. Fruits are forbidden in the protein diet and are slandered like any dessert. All fruits. Everytime.
But, extreme protein diets, modified fasting and other weight loss efforts are not easy and at that time, people are looking for easier ways to lose weight. Before anyone thinks that modern men have a corner on the market for weight loss gadgets and gimmicks, know this: In the 1900s one of the first weight loss pills was developed, along with tonics, elixirs and other products that all aimed to tighten and reduce without getting tired actually need to watch what you eat or exercise. Among the first pills was a pill containing benzocaine, which would not only dull the appetite but would produce an odd tingling sensation in the mouth that would make it difficult to enjoy food, which would hopefully cause the user to eat less. Authors become experts or otherwise want us to buy their books. Watch my videos, listen to my inspirational tapes; buy, buy buy In the end, the only thing that gets thinner is your wallet and all the equipment and stuff in the world won’t help you if you don’t learn the basics of weight loss. You need to exercise. You need the right amount of calories and you need to understand what calories are, where they come from and how they act in your body.
