Principles of The Zone Diet Plan

The Zone Diet has been around since around 1995, when fatty acid research scientist Dr. Barry Sears published the New York Times bestseller “The Zone”. The book was aimed at other doctors but it was discovered quite quickly by the general public. He has since authored several other books on the subject. A zone can be formulated as a state of hormonal balance in the body that can be achieved with your diet. Mainly about keeping the main hormones in the balanced zone because the wrong amount in your body can trigger weight gain. Controlling these hormones is at the heart of the Zone Diet. In fact, cravings for Carbohydrates are basically a byproduct of making poor hormonal choices when eating. But when you make Diet Zone foods, the real cause of these cravings will disappear.

Dr. Sears notes that current health care for most people focuses primarily on treating symptoms, as opposed to maintaining health. Results from the Zone diet tend to be immediate because your blood sugar stabilizes automatically. Therefore, you feel less hungry and more energetic throughout the day.

There are several basic principles of the Zone Diet, according to Dr. Sears.

First, make sure each meal gets you into the Zone by eating the right combination of low-fat protein (like lean chicken or pork), the right kind of carbs like fruits and/or vegetables (starchy carbs like bread or potatoes aren’t so good), and a little “good” fat (like olive oil). He says it’s a good idea to eat a Zone meal within about an hour of waking up in the morning. It is also good to eat 5 times a day.

And you can’t let more than 5 hours pass without eating Zon, even if you’re not hungry. This keeps your blood sugar levels stable. Another important principle is to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day (about half a gallon).

And finally, remember that if you go off – off the track, don’t worry because there’s no guilt in the Zone. Just make sure your next meal is a Zone meal to bring you back to where you came from.

In the Zone, no food is truly off-limits. “This means you can eat anything, as long as it has the right balance of protein, carbohydrates, and fat”, says Dr. Sears. Wine is also allowed because of the large amount of antioxidants it contains.
