6 Week Body Makeover – What’s Your Body Type?

The first step of the Michael Thurman 6 Week Body Makeover is to determine your body type and the type of food that will cause your body to lose weight. Body change is not a diet; you don’t have to eat special foods, buy and mix special drinks or swallow diet pills. The point of this diet is to not starve yourself and choose foods that work with your body to speed up your metabolism and ultimately burn calories. The premise of the diet is that when you understand the types of foods that increase your metabolism, the more foods you can eat.

The first step requires determining the type of body structure you have. You can determine your body composition by using the body blueprint that comes with the makeover diet kit. There are four different body types in the Michael Thurman diet and you will be categorized as having an A, B, C or D body once you fill out the blue print.

Body Type A is known to have the slowest metabolism of any body on the Michael Thurmond diet. Often people with this body type have struggled with maintaining their weight throughout their lives. However, the positive side of being Body Type A is that this type of person will have the most significant weight loss and faster results because the food choices in the six week body makeover will speed up your metabolism. Type A bodies are more sensitive to certain types of carbohydrates such as starchy fruits and vegetables. This type of person should avoid “sweet” and “complex” carbohydrates such as sweet fruits, sweets, fruit juices, processed grains in bread and pasta. Because of Type A metabolism, protein should be limited to the leanest types of meat such as halibut, tuna, flounder, cod and egg whites. Also, chickens and turkeys respond well to this body type. Examples of dishes for Type A are tequila-lime grilled halibut, roasted new potatoes and mixed spring vegetables.

Body Type B tends to build and maintain lean muscle with relative ease. This is a good factor because lean muscle is key to increasing your metabolism and losing weight. However, the metabolism of a Type B Body is still too slow to burn all the calories consumed in any given day. This type of person should stay away from very complex carbohydrates such as potatoes, yams, rice and unrefined pasta. Regarding protein consumption, the best types of meat are chicken breast, turkey breast, shrimp, crab and other seafood. A Type B should stay away from red meat because the purpose of this diet is to get thin, not gain mass.

Type C is similar to B. However, the difference between B and C is that this type of person does not need to be careful with complex carbohydrates. A typical dish for body type C is stir-fried chicken and shrimp with garden vegetables.

Finally, Type D bodies tend to have sluggish metabolisms and lack sufficient lean muscle tissue. The key to weight loss for Body Type D is consuming and large amounts of high quality protein such as lean red meat. This is the opposite of other body types because other body types tend to avoid red meat. Just like B and A, this type of body should stay away from simple carbohydrates found in fruits, refined sugars and processed grains.

You don’t have to starve to lose weight. The key factor is to know what body type you have and to decide what kind of food suits your body, not against it. So the question is, are you an A, B, C or D?
