Fiber is excellent for a healthy cardiovascular system. It helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels. Because fiber slows the conversion of carbohydrates to sugar, it promotes stable blood sugar in the body. This helps us feel full for a longer period and thus helps in losing weight.

Not surprisingly, fiber is becoming increasingly popular as an aid to weight management. You can eat larger servings of fruits and vegetables without increasing your calorie intake. Fiber-rich foods such as whole grains and produce are also very filling.
