Our Four Favorite Raw Fruit Juice Recipes
My feeling about juicing is that you should have as many colors of the rainbow represented in your juice. It makes for a more balanced body, raises your vibration and even helps all your chakras spin clockwise (meaning it’s healthy.) With that in mind, here are our favorite five-star juice blends so far.
Note: Volume makes about 4 cups of raw juice. You then divide it into two quart Mason jars and add 2 cups of ice cubes to each jar. Dump the entire mixture into your blender and buzz on High to make 4 cups of liquid juice. This makes enough juice for 2 people to make a morning juice. Ginger is great for increasing circulation and it gives your juices “zip.”
Juice #1: Juice Cantaloupe with a ½ cup splash of Knudson’s Lemon-Ginger-Echinacea juice (we try to use up what’s in the fridge one day about 10 days into our juice fast.) One whole 8-10 inch cantaloupe makes about 4 cups of juice.
Juice #2: Apple (4 cups), Pineapple (1/2), Mango (1), Plum (2), Banana (2)
Juice #3: Peaches (2), Plums (3), Ginger (2 inch pieces), Pineapple (1/2), Kiwi (1), Oranges (2)
Juice #4:Apples (3), Peaches (1), Bananas (2), Blueberries (1 cup), Mangoes (1), Plums (2) and Lemons (1)
Fruit juice is definitely more fun than vegetable juice. We really tried a variety of fruits and vegetables during our 40-day juice fast.
General Juicing Rules:
Drink freshly prepared juice and do not store the juice for more than 24 hours. If you can’t drink it right away, put it in a glass jar (filled to the top) and put a lid on it to prevent oxidation. Juice quickly loses its therapeutic and nutritional value during storage.
Raw fruits and vegetables are not always compatible when eaten together. Apples are an exception. You can also mix pears with Jicama.
Watermelon should be juiced by itself. Making whole food watermelon is optional.
Avoid using pre-bottled or sweetened juices (as we did in the first recipe.) All living enzymes are inactivated when they are pasteurized.
Reduce acidic juices. Juice does not stimulate acid to be released from the stomach, but orange and tomato juices are high in acid and you may want to mix these juices with other juices that are less acidic.
About cucumbers. I’ve read that cucumber may not be good to mix with other vegetables because it’s in the melon family, but it seems to work well for us. However, we limit cucumbers to less than 25% of the total.
Do not add more than 25% green juice to your vegetable juice (unless you have a barf bucket handy! Woof.)
Green Juice–you may want to do this between harder vegetables, the juice sludges at the bottom and doesn’t pour easily if you juice it first. For example, I juiced some carrots, then a bunch of parsley, then put in some more carrots after the parsley to get the juicer moving again.
Dilute all fruit juices with water (one part juice to 2-4 parts water) and drink throughout the day. We’ve found that 2 cups of fruit juice blended with ½ an ice cube tray makes up to 4 cups–perfect dilution and it’s fizzy cold.
Vegetable juice does not need to be diluted.
What to Juice:
During fasting, choose specific juice and tea ingredients for your health condition. Most people I see in my practice do well on the Eat Right for Your Type (www.dadamo.com) diet. For this reason, I recommend that the fruit juice be included in the List of Very Beneficial and Neutral Foods. We fast a lot, but you don’t have to fast that long. A 3 day juice fast will do you a lot of good and make your body healthier and more alkaline which is what you need to stay healthy.
