#1. Get rid of the diet mentality. Diets do NOT work. If they did, no one would be overweight. Instead of thinking in terms of deprivation and restrictions (diet), start shifting your mind to adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Embrace the idea of ​​feeding your body with the nutrition it needs. By giving your body what it craves in the form of healthy, nutrient-rich foods, you’ll see how quickly it will respond by shedding extra pounds.

#2. Drink a lot of water. The reasons we need to drink water are many — entire books have been written on the subject. What is important to understand at this point is that our bodies, and the cells within them, need water to function properly.

Every organ, and major system, in our body depends on water to operate properly and efficiently. It is especially important when we are losing weight because water is important in helping the body’s ability to remove excess fat and toxins.

#3. Fruits and vegetables are your friends. Whether you eat meat, you’re a vegetarian (don’t eat meat), a pescetarian (eat fish but not meat), or a vegan (don’t eat animal products), every healthy eating plan must include servings of fruits and vegetables that much- -every day!!

In addition to containing many anti-oxidants, it is an important source of key vitamins and minerals that your body needs to operate efficiently. Fruits and vegetables are excellent sources of fiber and many contain high levels of water, so they are also naturally hydrating.

#4. Fat is not the enemy. Contrary to many popular beliefs, fat is not the enemy; in fact, your body needs certain types of fat in order for your cells to function properly.

Alcohol consumption has a “double-whammy” punch: in addition to being nutritionally empty calories, it lowers your inhibitions and can cloud your judgment. This can lead to poor food choices and/or late night dinners that will sabotage your long-term health goals.

#6. Movement is a must. Rigorous exercise is not necessary to lose weight; actually, technically no exercise at all required. Weight loss is a function of consuming fewer calories than your body uses, thereby forcing your body to burn extra fat for fuel.

However, having said that, some forms of exercise play an important role in maintaining the overall health of our bodies. Living and being healthy is not just about losing weight.

Walking is a great way to start. Even if you walk for 5 minutes in the morning, or during lunch, or after dinner, it is better than doing nothing. Keep track of how many minutes you do each day, and then add a minute or two every 3-4 days.

#7. Pressure management is essential to the success of any healthy lifestyle. While there are many reasons why, perhaps the most important for those struggling with weight loss revolves around emotional eating.

Eating rich, creamy, delicious food gives us instant gratification, and also gives us instant comfort. When something bothers us, or puts pressure on us, it is not a comfortable feeling. It’s not pleasant, and we look for ways to get rid of the bad feeling.

For most of us, that way is emotional eating. Without finding healthy ways to deal with our daily stress, we increase the chances that when it happens, we will turn to the one thing we have used in the past – food.

Too often we try to tackle everything at once, radically changing our diet and our lifestyle and our routine. It was too overwhelming; it causes our system too much stress. This is why most people do not find success with this approach.

The best approach to making these changes last is to pick one and start incorporating it into your daily life. The most important thing is to DO SOMETHING!! Success is more likely if you make small changes and do them consistently.

Eat an apple a day, add five minutes to your walk, drink an extra glass of water–these may seem like very small things to do, but you’ll be amazed at how quickly those small successes will give you momentum to achieve big ones. the success you want!
