Most experts believe that the average person should do aerobic activity for at least 30 consecutive minutes at least 3 to 4 times a week. This activity can be walking, dancing, swimming, cycling or any other low-impact activity that helps you reach and maintain your target heart rate.

The secret to starting an aerobic fitness program is to start slowly. If you can only manage 5-10 minutes of walking a day, start with that and add 1-2 minutes every 2-3 days until you build up to 30 minutes of uninterrupted aerobic walking every day. No matter what form of activity you choose, you should maintain a challenging yet comfortable pace and increase your exercise by small amounts at regular intervals.

Be sure to design an exercise schedule to keep you on track and choose activities that fit your personality and are fun for you to do. If you don’t like the specific activity you choose, you probably won’t follow it. It may seem trivial but having the right workout clothes can also significantly affect your workout experience. Your shoes must be suitable for the activity you are doing and your clothing must be of breathable material to provide maximum comfort during your exercise and prevent the body from overheating.

Finally, set goals for yourself, both long-term and short-term and enjoy the accomplishment of each one. To give you the push you need and increase the fun, involve your relatives and friends as well. Incorporating family and friends into your exercise routine will make it easier to make regular exercise a part of your daily routine.
