With a protein shake diet all you have to do is plan your diet in advance to see how many calories per scoop of protein powder and that’s it. It’s simple, fast, easy and effective.

Another great thing about this type of diet is that it changes your relationship with food mentally. Many people have a love-hate relationship with food. They are also addicted to certain foods without knowing it. By going on a protein shake diet, you are essentially resetting all the switches in your brain and how it relates to food. The funny thing you will find is that you start craving healthy foods like salads, vegetables and chicken. I swear to God this is happening and I don’t know why. I’ve had it all the time and it’s pretty neat to notice and go through.

Also what I like about this diet is that since you will be getting most of your calories in liquid form, you are giving your digestive system the rest it needs. The digestive system is constantly working and every time you eat, your body has to devote a huge amount of energy to break down all that food. And if you eat the wrong kind of food and even so-called health foods like wheat bread, you are doing a lot of harm to your insides. You can cause a ton of inflammatory reactions in your body that cause a chain of events and health problems later in life. You’ll find that you have more energy, you need less sleep, you wake up with a jump in your step, you’re more alert throughout the day and just feel overall “lighter” on your feet. This is because your body doesn’t have to devote a ton of energy to digestion anymore.

However, there are some disadvantages of this diet that you need to take care of. The first is that this diet is very poor in terms of nutrients. You won’t get all your daily vitamins and minerals because you’ll only be drinking protein shakes throughout the day. You need some healthy fats and vegetables. Now if you use a more expensive brand that has a higher concentration of DHA and EPA then you don’t need to take as many capsules throughout the day. You may only need 1-3 depending on the amount of DHA and EPA found in each serving.

Now regarding the best protein powder for weight loss and this diet, I would use casein protein powder or a mixture of whey and casein. Both types of protein are great, but they do specific things. For example whey protein is digested very quickly. Depending on the purity it can be 15 minutes to 2 hours. Whey however will make you feel very hungry in no time. There isn’t much substance to that stuff.

Now with casein protein powder, it digests between 4-8 hours and again depends on the quality and type you buy. It is thicker in consistency and will keep you feeling fuller for longer.

Here is a good breakdown to use for a protein shake diet to lose belly fat:

Meal 1: 1 scoop of protein mix with 2 fish oil capsules, 1 scoop of greens and 1 scoop of flaxseed

Meal 2: 1 scoop of protein mix with 2 fish oil capsules

Meal 3: 2 scoops of protein powder, 2 capsules of fish oil, 1 scoop of vegetables and 1 scoop of flaxseed

Meal 4: 2 scoops of protein powder, 2 fish oil capsules

Serving 5: 1 scoop protein powder, 1 tablespoon organic peanut butter, 1 tablespoon flaxseeds
