Israeli writer, novelist, journalist and mental, regarded throughout his lifetime as Israel’s foremost residing creator. He was a professor of literature at Ben-Gurion University in Beersheba. Oz’s work has been printed in 42 languages, including Arabic, in forty three countries. He received many honours and awards, among them the Legion of Honour of France, the Goethe Prize, the Prince of Asturias Award in Literature, the Heinrich Heine Prize and the Israel Prize. In 2007, a range from the Chinese translation of A Tale of Love and Darkness was the first work of fashionable Hebrew literature to look in an official Chinese textbook. His mom, who suffered from depression, committed suicide when he was 12.
